Baby countdown day 6 + St. Patrick’s Day fail!

March 18, 2010

No more “baby watch” now it’s time for the countdown!  The final countdown! I know that my boy will be born in the next six days, and that’s comforting.  Of course, which day is yet to be known but at least we have a small window now and I’m off work three of the next six days, four if you count the 23rd because I’m not going to work if it’s that day, so really Friday and Saturday are the only days I could be out of the house when it goes down.  Comforting!

Yesterday, I failed my Irish heritage.  I bought two tall Murphy’s Irish stouts and a single bottle of Guinness when I was at work but figured that would be good enough because I didn’t really want to carry a ton home and because I could get more Guinness at the Lawson near my house and I was gonna hurry to Yukigaya to try to pick up some Kilkennys also…  I made it to Yukigaya just in time and no Kilkenny!  It seems that they stopped selling it.  They had lots of Guinness…  but I made my way towards home and stopped at Lawson… no Guinness! fuck!  There went that plan. I ended up being stuck with what I got while at work but with no real desire anymore to drink.  I did have one of the Murphy’s on the way home and it was really nice, might do a review later today.

The wife did not fail on St. Patrick’s day, she actually won, twice!  First, she didn’t give birth yesterday and kept the baby inside, freeing her husband to get drunk on that day for the rest of time! Second, she made some “Irish Food.” Normally Wednesday is “Mexican night” but not this week, it was time for some Irish food.  Now, I’m part Irish but my last relative to leave the Emerald Isle left a long time ago so Irish food has not ever really been a part of my diet and now I know why.  It’s pretty boring.  The wife did her best, some soda bread, Irish soup and some Colcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage).  The soda bread was pretty good, basically a big biscuit, the soup was pretty weak but the Colcannon was bangin!  Here’s a look, not a pretty picture but that’s what it looked like… bland.

Back to Mexican Wednesday next week!
